On 28th of February 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyz Republic published Decree No. 88, introducing amendments and supplementations to Decree No. 20 from 28th of January 2019 “On mandatory confirmation of product conformity in the form of accepting a declaration of conformity”.
New Decree came into effect on 15th of March 2024. Most notable change introduced is regarding registration of declarations of conformity (DoC) is now delegated to the Centre for Standardization and Metrology under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.
There are no additional clarifications regarding the new process to follow for the registration of the DoCs in the Kyrgyz register as of yet, however the new procedure is similar to the one introduced in Russian Federation in 2021, whereby registration process was largely transferred to the local applicants, making it more autonomous rather than relying on the CBs. This would also mean that only local entities can now register the DoC in Kyrgyz Republic.
This does present a certain challenge to the manufacturers that have been using CBs in Kyrgyzstan.
